For this week’s Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge I made a peek-a-boo treat bag using the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up. This is a fun suite that includes stamps, dies and the paper celebrating some of our ‘seasoned’ childhood memories.
My choices from the Tic-Tac-Toe board were the top line of acetate, bag or box, and celebrate. This is a fun weekly challenge with a new board to choose from each time.
For the bag I left the paper at the 12 x 12 original size. I scored the vertical lines at 2 1/4, 3 3/4, 8, and 9.5 inches. At the bottom I scored at 1 1/2 inches. This will make a bag sized at 10 1/2 high by 4 1/2 wide by 1 1/2 deep. I also put a partial score line from the top down about 3/4 of the way in the middle of the side sections. If you flatten out the bag before putting it together, you will see there is a 1/4 inch overlap, and it should be ready to put some doublesided tape on the wider side and press it down. Trim the bottom at the score lines, with a bit of a slant so it folds easily. Using tape or glue, close up the bottom. If your hand doesn’t reach the bottom of the bag to press it firmly, use a wooden spoon.
A punch was used to make the oval at the lower part of the bag. There is a half oval in the bottom of the bag – there was no way to avoid it. Then I used some oval dies to cut out a piece of acrylic and some fun striped designer paper. The tag was made using a tag die and a celebrate die. I cut the ‘celebrate’ from some adhesive backed sparkle paper and then just centered it on the tag. I taped the tag to the bag with some washi tape. (thinking I may go back and stick some ribbon in the hole though)
This can be filled with treats or a gift for that special child, or that special child-like friend. Use wrapped candies or put M&Ms/Skittles in a plastic bag and drop it in.
