Growing In Unity – Day 3

Happy Wednesday!!!  Today I am stepping away from the Christmas cards and presenting a Christmas present I have made up for my family and friends.  This is based on a live video Whitney did in November – link is here to see how it was done.

I really liked it and went overboard with it.  I took 8 different colors of my GinaKDesigns cardstock and cut 4 panels from each one.  For each card you need a matching white (or ivory) panel to do the split with.  So I ended up with 64 cards, which would be 8 sets.  Okay, I messed up a couple so only got 7 sets – but still a fun project to do.  Using my Misti and the set “Abundant Blessings” from Unity I stamped the focal point in the corners and the various sentiments from the set (and a couple extra I had).  The sentiment sets from Unity have so many wonderful sentiments – check them out – many are on sale right now.

On the colored panels I used versamark and white embossing powder.  For the neutral panels I used my matching GinaKDesigns ink – and the versamark with clear embossing.  Did you know you can do that? – with the Misti stamp the dye ink you like and then stamp versamark over it and emboss.

Once they were all done, I cut the bottom 1 3/4 inches off and matched it to the other piece.  I used washi tape to match it up and then adhered it to a white (or ivory) card base.  I used Nuvo drops matching the color for embellishments.

Once they were done, I gathered up 8 cards and envelopes into a set  and squeezed into a clear box (available from GinaKDesigns).   A bit of twine and you have a lovely gift to put under the tree. Although putting them together with a nice ribbon around would also be nice.

This was a fun project to do, and made so many beautiful cards.  This can be done with any focal point stamp and sentiments.  I hope you give it a try.

See you tomorrow – what shall I blog about?

  1. OOOh…I absolutely love these. I remember seeing Whit do them and made a mental note to try my hand at it…but never did. Once I get through the crazy holidays, I really need to sit down and make up some cards…my stash is completely deleted (especially sympathy cards unfortunately). Thanks for the inspiration.

  2. I loved the ones Whitney made, and bought the stamp set she used. I’m going to try those after the holidays. Your cards are beautiful also, and I love the colors you used. This is my first big year of stamping and I got overwhelmed with seasonal things. So, I’m looking forward to spring and new ideas. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Nice cards!!! I’ve got to try those after I get the ones on my list that I have to make! I like how you have different sentiments so making a bunch can be great for when you need one and don’t have time to sit and make a card!
