Today’s post is showing my favorite card from the Altenew Academy class “All About Layering 2” as part of my Altenew Educator Certification. For each class I have done several cards and it is very hard choosing from all the cards created from the gorgeous Altenew stamp sets.
The photo above shows my favorite. I used the Garden Treasure stamp set because I fell in love how beautiful all the layers worked together to create such a focal point. This is a single layer card that has a lot of impact! I first stamped a large central sentiment from the Painted Inspiration set. There are quite a few encouraging sentiments in this set in large lettering. This sentiment was stamped in Nocturne Versafine Clair and then embossed with clear embossing powder. Doing the large sentiment first allows me to place the stamps around evenly.
I stamped the outline of the main flower in Altenew Jet Black ink in the top left and lower right, and also on a piece of masking paper. I masked each flower as I stamped the layered leaves to form a frame around the sentiment. I used Jet Black for the outline, and then Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades for the leaves. All these inks are included in the Green Fields ink set. Then I removed the mask and finished up the flowers using Cotton Candy, Coral Berry and Ruby Red inks. This has really become one of my favorite floral layering stamps and color combinations. I filled in some of the white space (yes, I really need to let it go) with the included bud stamp and some soft cotton candy background stamps. A bit of Wink of Stella and some translucent sequins finished it off.
One of the other cards I made, that just barely made the cut, was using the Perennial Beauty stamp set. This creates a gorgeous focal point using the Shades of Purple ink set. The sentiment is from the same set.
I hope you enjoyed these cards today – and I will see you soon on my journey.
